Family Matters Programs and Services

Our weekly events at a glance. Please click on the program’s title to see full details on locations, times and program information. 

Programs are FREE to attend and sign up is no longer required to attend our regular scheduled daily playgroups. Sign up may still be required for special events.

Please Note: If School’s in Annapolis County are cancelled or have a 2hr delayed start, Family Matters Programs are cancelled that day.

Monday:

Upper Clements Playgroup – every Monday 9:30 – 11:30am at the Upper Clements Community Hall, 2951 Highway 1, Upper Clements. Join us for a fun morning of circle time stories and songs, playtime, crafts and more. Healthy snack provided for all children attending.  

Stay and Play Storytime – Every Monday 9:30 – 11:30am at the Kinsman Club, 209 Dodge Rd, Wilmot. Children and their parents/caregivers get to meet friends, read books, sing songs, play, craft and more. Healthy snack provided for all children attending. 

Book Club – 2nd or 3rd Monday of each month 1pm – 2.30pm at Family Matters in Lawrencetown check our current calendar for details of the next date. Join us once a month for the discussion on last months book. Books are provided and childcare is available. 

Board Meeting – 4th Monday of each month 12.30pm at Family Matters in Lawrencetown

Tuesday:

Junior Kindergarten Kids – Tuesday mornings starting 20th September 2022 from 9:30 – 11:30am at Family Matters main center, 10 Middle Road, Lawrencetown. Junior kindergarten kids is a registered program for children starting pre-primary or primary in Fall 2023. They will enjoy a play based learning environment with stories, songs, crafts, game and more. Childcare is available for younger siblings and parent time program for moms/dads/caregivers of the children attending.

Craft club – meets once a month 1 – 2.30pm at our main Family Matters location,10 Middle Road, Lawrencetown – typically the 3rd Tuesday – starting in October 2022. Adults make a craft to take home. Childcare is available.

Wednesday:

Bridgetown – Circle of friends playgroup   every Wednesday 9:30am – 11:30am at the Bridgetown Legion, Jeffrey St, Bridgetown. Parent/Caregiver/Child interactive playgroup, with healthy snack provided for children attending. Come and chat to other adults while the children play, sing songs, read stories, do crafts and have fun! 

Take a trip with us – Every Wednesday 10am – 11:30am – Join us at various locations throughout Annapolis County for an active fun morning. Check our monthly calendar for more details   

Thursday:

Mother Goose Baby Group  every Monday 9.30 – 11.30am at Family Matters in Lawrencetown depending on current Covid-19 restrictions. Parents/Caregivers and babies enjoy playtime, crafts, songs, rhymes, and more. Childcare is available for older siblings.

Effective parenting course – Middleton every Thursday 9.30 – 11.30am at the St Johns United Church Middleton. This is a closed group – Pre Registration to attend is required. Contact our main office in Lawrencetown to register 902 584 2210.

Curious Kids Playgroup – Middleton – Every Monday 9:30 – 11:30am at the Kinsman Club, 209 Dodge Rd, Wilmot. Children and their parents/caregivers get to meet friends, read books, sing songs, play, craft and more. Healthy snack provided for all children attending. 

Friday:

Paradise playgroup – Friday mornings 9:30 – 11:30am – Join us at the Paradise Community Hall for a parent/caregiver/child interactive playgroup with open play, crafts, story time and healthy snack provided.

Roots of empathy

TOTS – Take out toys and equipment Lending Library – Ongoing throughout the year – Stop by our main center in Lawrencetown or ask our staff about our children’s books, toys, resources and breast pump lending opportunities.

Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard – Ongoing as needed throughout the year – Stop by our main center in Lawrencetown and visit our cupboards. Check out our clothing bins, diapers, baby food and other items available. If you have anything in good condition that you would like to donate please check with our staff.
